1月25日、太田記念美術館の「かわいい浮世絵 おかしな浮世絵」を見る。
歌川広重の『月に兎』は他の浮世絵と違って、輪郭線がない。ススキの穂先がぴしっと決まっていて巧い。『道化とうもろこし石橋の所作事』はとうもろこしが頭の長い毛を、歌舞伎の石橋物さながらに振り回しているもので、飛び抜けてシュール。歌川国芳作。
他に狐、狸、兎の相撲取り、雀の遊郭、歌舞伎役者のカエル（実在の歌舞伎役者の似顔絵にもなっている）、象の曲芸（河鍋暁斎）、猫の蕎麦屋など様々な動物達の擬人化された姿がおかしかった。

On Jan. 25th, I went to see the exibition of "Kawaii ukiyo-e Okashina ukiyo-e"(Cutsy ukiyo-e Funny ukiyo-e).
Unlike the other ukiyo-e, Hiroshige Utagawa's "Moon and Rabbit" had no outlines and made it look modern. Japanese pampas grasses are well drawn with simple but strong line."Clown Corn Man's Dance of Shakkyou" is funny with the corn circle around his long hair. Shakkyou is a pattern of Kabuki dance, and the actor wears a long hair wig and turn his neck around. Painted by Kuniyoshi Utagawa.
There were so many pictures of animal perspnification such as fox and bagger tricks, rabbit sumo wrestlers, sparrows' red-light destrict, frogs with Kabuki actors face, elefants' acrobat(Kyosai Kawanabe), Cats' soba noodle shop and etc. etc. They were hilarious!

ロンドンでのみ上演されてきたオリジナルヴァージョンの『レ・ミゼラブル』が今年で廃止され、25周年記念の新ヴァージョンに変わるそうです。レ・ミゼのオリジナルヴァージョンは非常に完成度が高く、回り舞台を使った演出が素晴らしかった。左右に分かれたパリの下町のセットが、組み合わさってバリケードになる、という演出も素敵でした。個人的にはジャヴェールのポニーテール姿が好きで、自殺をする場面で一筋の長い髪の毛がほつれるところに、ジャヴェールの苦悩を感じることができて良かったんだけどなあ。オリジナルのレ・ミゼを残したい、とお思いの方！こちらのキャンペーンに賛同をお願いします！


The original production of Les Miserable that is only shown in London is to be retired this year and replaced with the 'reimagined' 25th anniversary version.
I loved the old version of Les Mis since they used the revolving stage so effectively! And the idea of building a barricade with two separated sets which show downtown Paris was marvelous. Personally I loved the old look of Javert who has ponytail because in Javert's suicide scene the long stray hair depicts his losing his confidence in agony. It is a pity that all these great direction will be lost forever.
